Career development is an on-going process. There’s more to it than continuing professional activities like courses and conferences (though those are important, too!).

The Canadian Library Association/Association canadienne des bibliothèques has tools to help you build your careers. Here are some common career development tools and how you can use them.

Mentoring

Having a mentor – an experienced and trusted advisor – can be a powerful addition to professional or career development. Access mentoring resources.

Internships & Practicums

Nothing beats hands-on experience in a new practice setting to broaden your range of knowledge, skills and competencies. An internship or practicum delivers that practical new experience. Access internship & practicums resources.
