NOTICE OF CHANGES TO CLA'S PROFESSIONAL STRUCTURE

The CLA Divisions were dissolved by a vote of the CLA membership at the Association's AGM in May 2011. At that time, members adopted a revised Constitution and Bylaws which replaced the former structures of Divisions and Interest Groups with new units called Networks.

The webpages for the former Divisions of CACUL, CAPL, CASL, CASLIS and CLTA are available as archived sites; no new content will be added to those pages after 30 May 2011.

Division	Description

	Canadian Association of College and University Libraries The Canadian Association of College and University Libraries exists to develop high standards of librarianship and of library and information services, promoting these in institutions of post-secondary education. This division includes the Canadian Technical and College Libraries section.
	Canadian Association for School Libraries The objectives of the Canadian Association for School Libraries shall be to support and promote the objectives of the Canadian Library Association, to unite library and media personnel and other interested parties in furthering and improving school library media service throughout Canada, to provide for the exchange of ideas and experience among members and to co-operate with internal and external groups and organizations in the advancement of education and librarianship and library, information and media services.
	Canadian Association of Public Libraries The Canadian Association of Public Libraries represents members of its division on matters of concern to public libraries at a national level. This division includes the Canadian Association of Children's Libraries section.
	Canadian Association of Special Libraries and Information Services CASLIS is Canada's association for special libraries and information services. Our mission is to support and strengthen our community and advance its information professionals. We do this by providing opportunities for learning, information exchange and networking to our members. We also promote the value and skills that our members offer to employer organizations and the public.
	Canadian Library Trustees Association Officially becoming the Canadian Library Trustees Association in 1960, CLTA was established in 1947. The goals of the division are: to promote and support cooperation and communication among library trustee associations and other library-related organizations within and outside Canada; to encourage public library trustees to participate in association activities and address national issues; to represent the interests of public library trustees to government and the public; and to develop and coordinate training and education programs and provide forums for meaningful discussion and exchange of ideas for public library trustees.
