Resumption of 2010 Election for CLA Vice-President/President-Elect
At the 2010 CLA Annual General Meeting in Edmonton on 5 June, members passed the following resolution:
Whereas it is desirable to maintain continuity on the CLA Executive Council in the coming year, to develop restructuring options for CLA; now, therefore, be it
Resolved that the assembly endorse the CLA Executive Council’s decision to suspend the 2010 elections; and that CLA Executive Council resume the election for the position of CLA Vice-President/President elect as soon as possible after the 2010 Annual General Meeting.
We are, therefore, resuming the election for the position of CLA
Vice-President/President-Elect. The process for this election will
be as follows:
June 9
- re-announce the name of the candidate put forward by the Nominations Committee
- open the period for nominations by petition for 30 days; petitions must have the support of five (5) voting members
July 9
- if no petitions are received, the candidate nominated by the Committee will be acclaimed
- if there are additional candidates, an election ballot will be prepared
July 12
- ballots will be distributed electronically or by post to all eligible voting members
- election period opens for 30 days
August 11
- voting period closes
August 13
- ballots are counted by Elections Committee
- winner is announced
The candidate put forward by the Nominations Committee is Karen Adams, Director of Libraries, University of Manitoba.
