Canada Post and the Canadian Library Association Launch a New Tool for
Shipping Library Books
Canada Post Corporation and the Canadian Library Association
/ Association canadienne des
bibliothèques (CLA), with the assistance of the Association
pour la science et les techniques de la documentation (ASTED), are
pleased to offer the Library Books Shipping Tool, an online
application designed specifically with libraries in mind! For eligible
libraries, it is a fast and convenient way to prepare and pay for your
library book shipments in Canada.
With the Library Books Shipping Tool you can:
The Library Book Rate allows eligible libraries to ship books to
other libraries and users at special rates. This new tool streamlines
the process and provides the necessary tracking mechanism to capture
volume information, and to ensure the Library Book Rate program receives
continuing support into the future. Please take a closer look at the
features and benefits of the Library Books Shipping
Tool in the attached brochure.
Don't delay…register today! Eligible libraries can use the
Library Books Shipping Tool to ship library books,
streamline their shipping procedures and help ensure the future of the
Library Book Rate by providing critical data necessary to confirm the
importance of this program for the library community.
Are you eligible? Complete a preliminary application form and return
it to CLA for evaluation. If your library qualifies, you will receive
confirmation and be asked to provide additional information necessary to
use the Library Books Shipping Tool and access the
Library Book Rate. Approved libraries will receive a Library
Books Shipping Tool Start-Up Kit with everything needed to get
started.
Enhancements to the Library Books Shipping Tool are
already being planned for April 2006. We need your ongoing feedback to
ensure that future versions of the program meet the needs of users. Help
us by providing feedback through the mechanisms built into the program
or by emailing lbst@cla.ca. Show us how
important this program is to your library by registering and using the
program!
If you have any questions regarding the Library Book Rate, the
Library Books Shipping Tool or the application form,
please contact lbst@cla.ca.
