
The Canadian Library Association has an opening for a Web and IT
Infrastructure Manager.
POSITION:
The Web and IT Infrastructure
Manager works in partnership with CLA staff and members to create and
maintain a vibrant and interactive web presence and to manage the
on-going development of the Association’s IT
infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- maintaining and updating CLA’s
web presence by posting new content and archiving older content, and
teaching volunteers how to upload and manage content
- developing and maintaining social
networking and communication tools (blogs, wikis discussion forums,
listservs, RSS feeds, e-communities)
- managing the information technology
(computers and network) infrastructure of the Association, and
maintaining the safety and security of all electronic data
- managing all systems applications
related to the membership database and the website
- providing advice on software and other
tools to enhance office productivity
- supporting CLA members and staff to
use appropriate IT tools
- maintaining awareness of emerging
issues of significance to web and IT developments
- working with CLA staff and volunteers
on technical issues related to the development and delivery of online
workshops, seminars, and other continuing professional development
opporunities
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or
diploma and 2 years related experience in designing/updating creative,
user-friendly, database-driven, interactive websites at the web 2.0
level OR an equivalent combination of education, training and
experience
- 1 - 2 years experience using
content management tools; a detailed understanding of content management
technologies
- Experience with open source
software (Drupal), social networking tools, web programming techniques
(ASP, JavaScript, PHP)
- Strong working knowledge of
HTML, web design, web standards, current web design trends and user
interface best practices
- Knowledge of graphic design
principles & design programs (Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator)
would be considered an asset
- Excellent knowledge of
Microsoft Office tools
- Ruthless attention to
detail
- Excellent time management,
organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated; an innovative
team player with an ability to work independently
- Exceptional documentation and
presentation skills
- Previous experience teaching
or training others
