What your responsibilities will be: The appointee will report to the Head of Information Services and the Head of Collection Development. As a member of the Collection Development Division, the Liaison Librarian will be responsible for effectively managing a materials budget to be used for identifying and selecting a broad range of materials, including books, periodicals and digital media in support of teaching and research in the departments of Religious Studies and Classics, with additional responsibility for collecting in three minor arts areas: Film, Photography, and Art. Some modification to the areas of responsibilities may be possible to accommodate a candidate’s special strength in another subject area. The successful candidate may be asked to assume temporary responsibility for additional subject areas. Other duties will include evaluations of the relevance of the collection to the university curriculum, consideration and application of new technologies to collection development and the evaluation of gifts for inclusion in the library’s collection. The successful candidate will also be required to serve as liaison between the Library and the academic departments. Working closely with faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, the individual will identify disciplinary and interdisciplinary needs and will promote library resources in the subject areas. As a member of the Information Services Division, the appointee will contribute to the Library’s instructional program, teaching information and research skills to undergraduate and graduate students and to faculty in a wide variety of disciplines. You will collaborate with faculty to integrate information/research skills into the curriculum. Through our reference services you will provide information and research help to faculty and students at all levels using traditional and electronic sources and services. An appointment at the rank of Librarian I or Librarian II is anticipated. Salary floors are $44,712 and $51,428 respectively as of September 1, 2008.
