2009-2010 YCW in Building Careers in Heritage Recipients

The deadline for applying to the YCW Heritage Organization and Building Careers in Heritage program 2010-2011 has now passed.

Please visit the Young Canada Works website for information on applying: www.youngcanadaworks.gc.ca

The Canadian Library Association is pleased to be a partner of the Department of Canadian Heritage in the administration of the Young Canada Works (YCW) program. This project is made possible by funding provided through the Heritage Programs Directorate of the Department.

As part of the Youth Employment Strategy, the program gives students and recent graduates the opportunity to find employment in a sector that promotes Canadian heritage and culture. The program benefits both employers and students. Not only does it provide funds for projects, it allows heritage institutions access to young and enthusiastic employees. For the students it provides valuable experience, exposure to aspects of Canada's heritage and much-needed funds to continue their education. CLA administers two components of the YCW program:

YCW in Heritage Organizations (YCW-HO)
YCW at Building Careers in Heritage (YCW-BCH)

How to Apply

Applications for the Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations and Building Careers Programs are completed online at www.youngcanadaworks.gc.ca

Employers must create an individual account for their organization on the YCW website (www.youngcanadaworks.ca) in order to apply for funding. Once an account is created they can fill-out and submit an application to request for funding. Projects are then reviewed by our selection committee members and are selected based on the YCW Heritage Selection Criteria.

French-language applications are handled by l'Association pour l'avancement des sciences et des techniques de la documentation (ASTED). Please visit their website for service in French.

More information regarding the YCW program can be found at: www.youngcanadaworks.gc.ca or by contacting the Program Coordinator.

Please join us in creating exciting projects and meaningful employment for students.
