The CIPO Resource Centre (CRC) has planned a number of activities for its employees in recognition of Library Month throughout October.Storytelling as a Major Communication Tool
These include: open houses, SCOPUS training and the launch of its Virtual Library. The CRC has also chosen to support the Lubuto Library Project, which is dedicated to building libraries in Africa for street kids, orphans, children affected by HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable children. This very important initiative brings literacy programs to these children and provides them with a safe community haven where they can learn and grow. The CRC has invited employees to support the project by dropping off children's books or monetary donations. For more information, please visit the Lubuto Library Project website.
The CRC selected a special logo for this year's Canadian Library Month. It is a painting by Georgia Lesley entitled “One World, One People” which beautifully illustrates the theme “Libraries: the world at your fingertips”. Georgia is a well-established and recognized Canadian artist who also works as a librarian in her community. For more information about Georgia and to view her other works of art please visit her website.
