Why I love my job
I work for an academic monograph vendor: YBP Library Services. With this position, I have the privilege of traveling to academic libraries and special libraries around Canada. I get to talk to librarians and dedicated information professionals in their offices, over coffee, and at conferences. Spending time with and learning from the people I meet has greatly enhanced my passion for librarianship and inspires me to strive to do my best in this, my chosen profession.
Why I chose a career in libraries
I believe that working in/with/for libraries contributes to something great; we are increasing the world knowledge base. Whether that be at the reference desk, during an outreach program, or in providing information resources, we all work towards providing tangible knowledge for the users of our services. With a career in librarianship you are a marketer, specialist, public speaker, teacher, manager, mentor, data diva, and information superstar often all rolled into one amazing package. I believe in our dynamic field and that we will be on the forefront of global and community initiatives.
