Media Awareness Network, a Canadian non-profit organization that has been pioneering the development of media literacy programs since its incorporation in 1996. Canadian Children's Illustrated Books in English Project
Visitors to the site are treated to a sampling of the literary and visual contributions of Canadian authors and illustrators to children's literature. The site features an extensive list of multi-media resources, including an annotated list of picture books that won national awards between 1970 and 2001 in Canada, Australia, Great Britain, and the United States.

Freedom to Read Report Card 2003. The Book and Periodical Council of Canada throws darts at the Provinces for under-funding school libraries in recent years. Kudos go to the Canadian Coalition for School Libraries for campaigning to restore the level of libraries in schools to past standards. A kit promoting Freedom to Read is available.

The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) is a non-profit organization which represents an international network of people who are committed to bringing books and children together. Red Maple Awards
Ontario School Library Association reading program for grades 7 - 9. System is based on the Silver Birch program. Voting takes place in the Spring on a yearly basis, followed by an Awards celebration.
